Final Update for the Season!

WE MADE IT!!! Aside from a few minor things here and there the end has arrived. The the road is beautiful and open for use! Drive through and check it out, not a pothole in sight!

An update from the crew for you!

After some delays last week due to cold, snowy weather, the roadway was opened to traffic. The traffic control was removed and traffic can once again travel both directions. There is some work that needs to be completed on the project, though. Street light installation will begin this week, with the work being concentrated at the roundabout. Through traffic will not be restricted during the street light installation, but there will be equipment utilizing the parking lanes throughout the length of the project. The roundabout will be illuminated by temporary lighting until the new street lights can be installed. Additional pavement marking and sod installation will be completed in Spring 2015.

Thank you so much for being safe drivers and working with construction! It has been quite the project, one that had been anticipated for years and as it begins to come to a close the final product can be appreciated.

Safe driving this winter everyone, see you in the spring!

A Message From Warren

On Monday, November 3, the traffic pattern on South Boulevard will be modified to prepare for paving the asphalt surface on the south side of the roadway.

Eastbound traffic will be prohibited from utilizing South Boulevard between USH 12 and Industrial Court. This portion of the roadway will be opened to westbound traffic via Sauk Avenue and Industrial Court. Paving is scheduled for Tuesday November 4.

Changeable message signs will be deployed on USH 12 to aid motorists in accessing South Boulevard during this stage of the work.

Weekly Update 10/27-10/31

An Update from Warren!

The week of Monday October 27 to Friday, October 31, will be a busy one for traffic switches on South Boulevard. The main focus of the work for this week will be to complete the asphalt paving of the roadway. The schedule for the closures and staging below are dependent on the weather and the contractor’s progress and may be subject to change. Changeable message signs and additional traffic control signs will be in place to help motorists understand the various stages.

On Monday Oct. 27, the lower layer of asphalt will be placed on the north side of the road. This work will not affect the current configuration of the eastbound lane on South Boulevard. However, there will be some short duration closures of the Industrial Court/ South Boulevard intersection and the Hitchcock Street/South Boulevard intersection. These closures will be in effect while the paving operation is working in the immediate vicinity of the intersection and are expected to last 2-3 hours at each location.

On Tuesday Oct. 28, the surface layer of asphalt will be paved at the roundabout and Parkway/STH 123. This work will require a closure of South Boulevard between Badger Drive and Lynn Ave. The closure will include the newly constructed roundabout and the adjoining portion of Parkway. Truck traffic will be directed to Hitchcock Street. Eastbound local traffic only will be permitted between Hitchcock Street and Badger Drive. This work is expected to take most of the day.

On Wednesday Oct. 29, the surface layer of asphalt will be placed on the north side of the road. The traffic staging during this work will be identical to that utilized for paving the lower layer on Monday.

On Thursday Oct. 30, eastbound traffic on South Boulevard will be switched to the north side of the road. Eastbound traffic will be eliminated between USH 12 and Industrial Court during this stage. Eastbound traffic will need to access South Boulevard via Sauk Avenue and Industrial Court. During this stage, the surface layer of asphalt will be paved on the south side of the roadway.

The Lynn Avenue detour will remain accessible during all of these changes.

Here's Another Update!!!

TRAFFIC

For the week of October 20 to Sunday, October 26, traffic will remain in the current configuration.
Eastbound and Westbound traffic is permitted between USH 12 and Industrial Court. Eastbound only
traffic is permitted between Industrial Court and Linn Street at the east project limit. The Lynn Avenue detour remains in effect, also.

Automobile traffic on Industrial Court is permitted to access South Boulevard in both directions. Trucks are prohibited from accessing South Boulevard from Industrial Court.

During the week of October 27 to October 31, there may be changes to the traffic control patterns to accommodate the asphalt paving operations. Information on those changes will be forthcoming at the end of this week.

WORK SCHEDULE FOR THE UPCOMING WEEKS

Things are really starting to come together! Grading work for the roadway is completed. Installation of concrete curb and gutter is nearly completed.

Work this week will focus on preparing the north half of the roadway for asphalt paving, including completion of the curb and gutter and preparation of the gravel base. Additional remaining work includes concrete sidewalk, installation of street light conduit and bases and topsoil placement. These items should be completed by the end of the week or early next week.

The end is in sight, I am so excited aren't you!?!

Update! Update! Update!

Things are rapidly moving along on South Boulevard and I am happy to report that things are moving along on schedule! This means that the traffic switchover will be coming! This Monday (the 15th of September) traffic will change sides but continue in the same direction and the traffic flow will continue to flow East bound only from Industrial Ct to Lynn Ave and still two-way traffic from Hwy 12 to Industrial. There will be a few significant changes starting Monday!  Half of the Industrial Ct/South Blvd intersection will be closed. So if you are traveling East bound on South Blvd from Hwy 12 you will not be able to turn left/North onto Industrial Ct.  Hitchcock Street and Badger Drive will be closed during
portions of the next few weeks.

You will be driving on the new part of the roundabout at Hwy 123/Parkway. The No Left Turn onto 123/Parkway will be removed on Monday so you will be able to enter and exit at 123/Parkway. From Hwy 12 to Industrial Ct, the two-way traffic will change slightly. The East bound traffic will be on the new pavement and the West bound traffic will be on the Northerly temporary pavement. The construction crew will be working between the two lanes so make sure that you keep their safety in mind!

At two months in we are doing great and the new road is on its way! Happy driving!
